SS 347 Plates are columbium (niobium) stabilized austenitic stainless steel plates designed to excel in high-temperature environments where intergranular corrosion is a primary concern. The addition of columbium minimizes chromium carbide precipitation during welding and service at temperatures between 427°C and 816°C. This stabilization makes SS 347 superior to Grade 321 in certain aqueous and high-temperature conditions, offering exceptional resistance to polythionic acid stress corrosion cracking, which is frequently encountered in oil refinery equipment.
Manufactured in strict adherence to ASTM A240 and ASME SA240, these plates provide higher creep and stress rupture properties than Grades 304 and 321. Grade 347 is often preferred for heavy-duty welded assemblies that operate in corrosive, high-heat zones and cannot be post-weld annealed. From aircraft exhaust manifolds and rocket engine parts to chemical processing reactors and steam service components, our SS 347 plates deliver the structural stability and long-term oxidation resistance required for the world's most demanding industrial thermal applications.
