S355J2 Plates are high-strength, non-alloy structural steels that represent the industry standard for load-bearing applications requiring enhanced mechanical properties. Part of the EN 10025-2 specification, the "S355" designation signifies a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa, providing a significant strength-to-weight advantage over standard mild steels. The defining technical characteristic of the S355J2 grade is its guaranteed impact performance. The "J2" suffix denotes that the material has undergone rigorous Charpy V-notch impact testing to ensure a minimum energy absorption of 27 Joules at -20°C. This ensures that the steel maintains its structural integrity and resists brittle fracture even in sub-zero temperatures and harsh environments.
