Inconel 601 (UNS N06601) Plates, produced in accordance with ASTM B168, are specialized nickel-chromium-iron alloy plates designed for the most demanding high-temperature environments. While similar in base chemistry to Inconel 600, the defining characteristic of Inconel 601 is a strategic addition of aluminum. This metallurgical enhancement facilitates the formation of a tenacious, self-healing oxide scale that remains tightly adherent even under extreme thermal cycling. As a result, Inconel 601 offers unparalleled resistance to oxidation and spalling at temperatures up to 1250°C (2300°F), making it the premier choice for structural applications where thermal stability is the primary concern.

The technical utility of ASTM B168 Inconel 601 extends beyond its oxidation resistance; it also provides high mechanical strength and excellent creep-rupture performance at elevated temperatures. It is exceptionally resistant to carburizing environments and has high resistance to aqueous corrosion, though its primary domain remains high-temperature service. This makes it an ideal material for petrochemical processing equipment, radiant tubes, industrial furnace muffles, and gas-turbine components.
