ASME SA387 Grade 2 Plates are specialized Chromium-Molybdenum alloy steel plates designed primarily for use in weldable pressure vessels and industrial boilers operating at elevated temperatures. The addition of Chromium provides essential resistance to oxidation and corrosion, while Molybdenum enhances the material's structural integrity and creep resistance under sustained thermal stress. These plates are engineered to withstand the demanding environments of the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries, where maintaining mechanical properties at high heat is critical for safety and operational longevity.

Available in two distinct strength levels, Class 1 and Class 2, SA387 Grade 2 offers engineers the flexibility to balance ductility and tensile strength based on specific vessel design requirements. Class 1 is typically preferred for applications requiring higher levels of ductility, while Class 2 is heat-treated to provide higher tensile and yield strengths to handle greater pressure loads. These plates are frequently utilized in the fabrication of heat exchangers, separators, and reaction vessels. Their refined grain structure and controlled chemistry ensure excellent weldability and toughness, making them a reliable choice for high-temperature services where resistance to hydrogen embrittlement and sulfur attack is required.
