Monel 400 (UNS N04400) Plates, manufactured under the ASTM B127 specification, are high-performance nickel-copper alloy plates known for their exceptional resistance to a wide variety of corrosive environments. Composed of approximately 67% nickel and 23% copper, Monel 400 is a solid-solution alloy that remains remarkably strong and tough across a vast temperature spectrum, from sub-zero cryogenic levels up to 450°C (840°F). It is specifically engineered for environments where standard stainless steels fail, particularly in rapidly flowing brackish water or seawater, making it the industry standard for marine engineering and offshore applications.

The technical versatility of ASTM B127 Monel 400 lies in its unique ability to resist both reducing and oxidizing conditions. It is one of the few metallic materials that can withstand contact with fluorine, hydrofluoric acid, and hydrogen fluoride, as well as their derivatives. Its superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking in most freshwaters and its immunity to chloride-ion stress cracking make it invaluable for heat exchangers, boiler feedwater heaters, and chemical processing tanks. Additionally, Monel 400 displays excellent weldability and can be easily fabricated using standard workshop processes, providing a durable and reliable solution for critical components in the oil and gas, nuclear, and aerospace sectors.
